Tom Holland has officially confirmed that Spider-Man 4 is on its way, and filming will kick off next summer!
During his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland excitedly shared the news, saying, “It’s happening... we start shooting next summer. Everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there. It’s super exciting.”
Fans got even more details during Holland’s stop at Good Morning America. He teased that the next installment would have a "crazy" idea, describing it as different from anything they’ve done before but something he believes fans will love. This comes on the heels of another reveal from Holland on the Rich Roll Podcast, where he mentioned that he and Zendaya had already read a draft of the script. Holland shared that the experience of reading it was electrifying, with both he and Zendaya getting hyped up as they bounced around their living room. They felt the movie would be one that really deserves fan respect.
While details of the storyline are still under wraps, the third movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), ended with the world forgetting Peter Parker’s secret identity, including his girlfriend MJ, played by Zendaya. It leaves plenty of room for speculation on where the story will go next.
What we do know is that the film will have a new director at the helm. According to reports, Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton is in talks to take over from Jon Watts, who directed the previous three Holland-led Spider-Man films. Writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who have been involved in the franchise before, will return to work on the script. Marvel’s Kevin Feige and former Sony exec Amy Pascal are also back on board as producers.
On top of his Spider-Man commitments, Holland’s career continues to reach new heights. He’s set to star in Christopher Nolan’s latest project, which has generated its own buzz. Holland compared getting the call from Nolan to when he first got the news he’d be playing Spider-Man, saying it was one of the most exciting moments of his life. The new Nolan film, also starring Matt Damon, is slated for a July 2026 release.
With Spider-Man 4 set to begin filming soon, Holland’s plate is certainly full, but his enthusiasm for the upcoming Spidey project is infectious. Fans have a lot to look forward to as the actor returns to one of his most beloved roles and takes on new and exciting challenges in the world of cinema.
