Venom's Last Dance has Marvel fans with mixed glances - 07

The first reactions to *Venom: The Last Dance* are quite divided, with some critics praising the film’s quirky, fun approach, while others feel it’s a mixed bag.

Sony's Venom next to a horse integrated with the symbiote alien

Chris Killian from *ComicBook.com* describes it as a "whacky buddy road trip" and a classic "guilty pleasure" film, emphasizing how it stretches its PG-13 rating. He suggests that it’s best to "turn your brains off and let Venom snack on them." Similarly, Ian Sandwell from *Digital Spy* calls it the most entertaining of the trilogy, highlighting its humor and emotional moments as Eddie and Venom embrace their "Thelma & Louise" style fugitive adventure, complete with car karaoke and even dog rescuing.

Erik Voss from *New Rockstars* also shares positive reactions, labeling it "very weird, very fun" with a confidently wild road trip narrative. *The Wrap's* Drew Taylor echoes this sentiment, mentioning that while the insanity has been dialed up, the movie still has heart.

However, not everyone is convinced. *Inverse’s* Jacob Kleinmann feels the movie is essentially two films stitched together. He enjoys the "bromantic" road trip elements but criticizes the superhero aspects, which include heavy exposition and CGI battles, saying they feel forced by the studio. Sean O'Connell from *Cinema Blend* calls it the best of the three *Venom* films, but still "incredibly bad," appreciating its willingness to try anything while acknowledging that the trilogy ultimately "accomplished very little."

Despite the mixed reactions, there’s excitement around the introduction of the symbiote king Knull, who director Kelly Marcel revealed is just beginning his story, hinting at more to come in future films. Though Tom Hardy dodged questions about a potential Spider-Man crossover, the door remains open for further adventures with Venom.

*Venom: The Last Dance* is set to hit theaters on October 25, and it looks like fans will have to see for themselves how they feel about this quirky, bold entry in the series.
